The Early Years with Diabetes

I'm starting this blog to help anyone with Diabetes cope with it and understand it more. I have been a type 1 diabetic for 26 years now, and am paying for my stupidity in the early years of having it. I did some things how I was supposed to, but on the other hand I thought I was bigger than the disease. I ate some sweets, smoked cigarettes and when I got old enough I would drink if I felt like it. Well these are all things that a Diabetic is not supposed to do, well actually you can drink in moderation. When I was first diagnosed it was confusing to me cause no one in my family didn't have it and I was told I was 1 in a million to get it without it running in a family. So I was upset, hurt, confused, ticked off and asked "why me". So since I was all of those emotions I took it upon myself to defeat the disease and do things the way I wanted to do them. Well 26 years later I am paying for it and regretting everything I have done concerning this disease for the last 25 years.

Stay tuned for more
